Local Accommodation Proprietors Now Have Updated Renewal Schedules for Their Licences

11 December 2023

The Portuguese government has recently announced an extension to the deadline for local lodging establishments to submit their proof of activity, now scheduled until 23:59 on the 13th of December.

This decision comes in response to the challenges faced by property owners attempting to register their activities on the official platform.

The official website has experienced a surge in traffic, causing disruptions to the registration process. Both the Economy Ministry and Sea, Housing, and Administrative Modernisation have acknowledged the technical issues faced by users on the online platform. Landlords have encountered difficulties, prompting the Economy Ministry to advocate for an extension beyond the original deadline of 7th of December 2023.

The Association of Local Lodging in Portugal (AALP) has received complaints from individuals attempting to upload required documentation onto the online platform. Users have encountered an error message stating: "A communication error occurred with the external entity. Please, make a new process."

The documentation is crucial for verifying the activity of local lodging establishments and ensuring their continued operation. Failure to submit the required documents may lead to the potential cancellation of their activity by local authorities.
